Students have been working on partner reading. These 4th grade students shared that partner reading allows them to follow along, offer help, be supportive and encourage their partner.

Roosevelt. The Pillar of the Month for November is Cooperation. Keep an eye out as we highlight students demonstrating cooperation all month long.
In Science the 4th grade students made predictions of which type of liquid would make candy corn dissolve the fastest. They tested water, alcohol and vinegar. Students made some great observations and even discussed other liquids they could try. The class was shocked that the candy corn dissolved the fastest in water.
Hillsdale Preparatory School is a Leader in Me School, but what does that mean? Leader in Me is about empowering our students to reach their full potential while ultimately finding their voice. Over the coming months every week we will have a day where we share ways students are being proactive and leading with the end in mind. We will show ways our staff is advancing into classroom leadership instead of classroom management and how they are helping others see what they don't see in themselves. Friendly Reminder - Tomorrow is casual day. We ask that students not wear their Halloween costumes to school and save them for the trunk-or-treat tomorrow evening.
November after school club sign-ups are being sent home with students today. These clubs will run October 30 - November 24 and there will be no clubs on Monday.
Testimonial Tuesday- Mrs. Medrano's class says they love having their friend join them for a story! They had a great conversation talking about jumping in leaves and the beautiful colors they've been seeing outside!

HPS Engagement Committee is excited to be holding a Penny Wars next week. Students can add to their own class' jars by adding pennies or bills, or they can subtract from another class by adding silver coins. The class with the most positive amount will be able to wear their Halloween costumes on Halloween! Help support future HPS events by participating! Thank you Patriots!
Friendly Reminder: Tomorrow, October 16, is picture day. All students need to be in uniform. If your child earned a Patriot Prize last week they can wear casual clothing on Tuesday. Students ordering pictures need to bring their order forms with them to school in the morning.

The HPS Engagement Committee is looking for donations to make our Trunk or Treat a success. We need bags of individually wrapped candy to distribute during the event. If you would to donate, please sign up on the attached form and have all candy donations dropped off to the office by October 26th.

Picture forms are being sent home with students today. The order forms are customized for each individual student. If you order pictures please make sure students are brining back the correct order form. Picture day is Monday October 16. Order forms should be returned the morning of the 16th.
