My name is Melissa Comstock. I graduated from Baker College of Jackson. I have been teaching for 10 years. This is my 5th year at HPS. Previously, I worked as literacy coach and taught 6th grade.

This year I am teaching a 2nd / 3rd grade split class. Our classroom community is built on three major principles.

1. Believe in yourself

2. Treat others with respect

3. Don't give up

We use technology every day, while also using hands-on materials and paper and pencil. Our primary focus is on skill building across content areas.

We even have a class pet hedgehog. Her name is Miss Poppy Quills. The students got to help pick out her name and help take care of her.
