Our Story

"As a teacher of another school system (where I was very proud to have my son and daughter) it was hard for me to switch my children over to Hillsdale Preparatory because they were getting a good education. Since the switch, I have seen my children challenged and grow tremendously. I do not want my children to simply go through school. I want my children challenged and prepared for the future. As a teacher I feel today's school curricula are being watered down. HPS is preparing our children, and developing successful habits in order for them to succeed in high school and college."

Hillsdale Preparatory School symbolizes a partnership among the students, parents, faculty, administration, and staff. These partners are united in their commitment to our common objectives and dedicated to our Mission Statement.

Hillsdale Preparatory School is a tuition-free Michigan public school. As a free public school, Hillsdale Preparatory School follows all the requirements outlined by the Hillsdale Intermediate School District and all Federal and State of Michigan laws related to enrolling students. According to our charter, there is no academic requirement for admission. However, to ensure proper class placement, testing may be administered to new students (grades K-7). Continuing students shall have first priority and parents must complete an Intent to Enroll form for re-enrollment. Siblings shall have preference. Enrollment for siblings depends on space and availability. Spaces remaining shall be filled by a lottery during April of each school year. Any prospective student not enrolled may remain in the lottery, but parents must fill out a new application each year. Hillsdale Preparatory School does not discriminate on the basis of intellectual or athletic ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, status as a handicapped person, religion, creed, race, sex, color, or national origin.
