Program Curriculum

The Program Curriculum and School Improvement Process is about student achievement, developing positive cultures, and creating Professional Learning Communities. The school’s activities must work to benefit each student educationally, intellectually, socially and emotionally. For students to flourish as learners, plans must be in place to provide the structure needed to ensure school safety, to define appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior, to outline curriculum instruction, and assessment expectations, and to generate means for effective communication with parents concerning their child’s academic progress and social development.

Using a strategy that utilizes community resources, assessments, technology, character development and unique learning opportunities, Hillsdale Preparatory School will continue to pursue their ongoing commitment to improved student performance. In order to stay abreast of current educational developments, staff will receive on-going professional development.

Technology

Hillsdale Preparatory has a computer lab and all classrooms are equipped with at least one personal computer. The teachers and the students have access to a VCR recorder, DVD player, VCR/DVD/ laptop projector, laptop computers, overheads, calculators, and a digital camera. Each teacher incorporates technology in accordance with weekly plans within the core academic areas. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point are examples of the programs used to enhance the content areas, as well as Internet access for information retrieval. The computer and other technologies are viewed as tools to be mastered and used in many ways across a variety of content areas within the classroom. Computer related skills are developed throughout the student's educational experience by gradually broadening the type and use of technology.
